Walter Johnson Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of the Golden Child, Parker Johnson, on Tuesday October 10, 2023. He was the only child to the late Jesse and Mable Johnson, born September 9, 1948.

He was a loving, arrogant, egotistical, stubborn SOB with a heart of gold. He was a loving husband, dad, son, granddad, cousin, friend, and handyman. He was a resident of Blairsville, GA and former childhood resident of the Leave It To Beaver world on Milam Circle in Clarkston, GA.

To all of the lives he touched, and there were A LOT, Parker lived a full and eventful life. He had varying names depending on which circle of friends were present: Bunky, John, Quirrel, Pops and PJ .  He went to four colleges in one year, starting as a GSU Eagle and then graduating as a Bulldawg at the University of Georgia in 1970. He followed in his father’s footsteps for his professional career retiring from management with Sears & Roebuck after 42 years.

Parker was a lifelong fisherman and hunter who loved to BS as well as hosting cookouts while entertaining friends and neighbors.  He coached his daughters in softball and was present at all of their sporting events.  He was a mentor to their friends providing rides to ballgames, meals at his home and anything else he saw they needed.  He touched many lives with his generosity and support.

He is survived by his wife Pam Jordan (stepson Jason & Elizabeth Jordan), daughters Kaye (Todd) Hood, Lori (Gerry) Carroll and Mandy Johnson, as well as his granddaughters Jamie and Jodie Hood.

There will be a gathering of friends on Saturday October 21 at 1:00 at his home at 96 Maresa Lane, Blairsville, GA. In lieu of cut flowers, please bring a tree/plant/flower so that we can plant in our garden in his memory.

In Lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Walter Parker Johnson to the MOAS  Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter at moaspets.com or 1888 Colbert-Danielsville Road Danielsville, GA 30633
