Velvetta "Vetta" Christian

Velvetta (Vetta) Cecelia Christian was born on July 18, 1959, in Dawson, GA to the late Albert Bob, Jr., and Margaret Bob. She departed this life on June 14, 2022, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville in Gainesville, GA.

Velvetta graduated in 1977 from Terrell High School in Dawson, GA, where she was Captain of the cheerleading team for four years. She also studied in the University System of Georgia. While working at Doublegate Country Club in Albany, GA, she met Reginald K. Christian. The two wed and to this union, three children were born – Reginald (Reggie) K. Christian, II, Victoria (Tori) C. Christian, and Alexandria (Alex) N. Christian. Vetta was a member of the North Metro Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School and served in other capacities. She also applied her passion for teaching in the classroom where she taught and cared for children with special needs. Those around her said that she had a special gift with her little students. She was patient, compassionate, and had the ability to connect with them. Vetta was also a devoted mother to her children, always on the sidelines or in the audience cheering her daughters Tori and Alex on at every school program, ballet, tap, and cheerleading event. She was also careful not to miss opportunities to sample culinary dishes and try out the latest dance moves with her beloved son, Reggie. Vetta loved animals. She cherished her fur babies including Zoey and Remy, rescued dogs. She also loved flowers and enjoyed talking to birds and feeding horses at the local horse stable.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her loving children, Reginald Christian, II, Victoria Christian, and Alexandria Christian; her loving and devoted mother, Margaret Bob; Mother-in-law, Rosie Christian; God Mother, Margaret Shorter; Special cousins, Juliette Jordan and Mattie Sapp and a host of brothers/sisters-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Byrd & Flanigan Funeral Service Lawrenceville GA; with Pastor Kenny Cooper officiating.
