Tracey Carden Obituary

Heaven gained a beautiful angel. Tracey Carden left this earth April 26, 2022 and is now with her Savior. Rejoicing and dancing! She is now fully healed. Healed from the disease that eventually took hold of more and more of her body - but never her mind or her spirit.  She was strong and beautiful through it all. Tough as nails that one!!! She always ran the show. She was both fiercely competitive and fiercely loyal. A true Mama Bear where any of her family was concerned - not just her babies. She was the best wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin or friend that anyone could ever have asked for.
Tracey was born on January 27, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York to Thomas O’Connell and mother Theresa Dunney. She was later adopted by her “Stepped Up” dad, Willie Dunney, and called him "Daddy." She grew up in a very large family that stayed close even after relocating to Georgia.

She married John Carden on March 24, 2007. Then, after living in Fayetteville, Georgia they relocated to Hoschton, Georgia where Tracey became a very successful and loved real estate agent with Peggy Slappey Properties. There they lived and raised their two children. Tracey was very driven when it came to her career. If there was a trophy to be had she wanted it! Even though she was tough, she was also respected throughout the real estate community in Northeast Georgia. Her drive and integrity won her many awards over the years. She was a six-time Million Dollar Club recipient, but the proudest moment of her career was being awarded NAMAR Rookie of The Year New Homes in 2017. That’s the same drive she would use later to use to convince John to follow his dream of opening a record store which he did when he opened Carden Records in Braselton, Georgia - but really Tracey was the boss.

Tracey is survived by her husband, John Carden, her two sons Jacob Shirley and Tristan Carden, her Stepson James Carden, as well as her Mom and Dad, Willie and Theresa Dunney, her brother Billy Dunney (and Melissa Brown) of Lula GA; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Fay Carden of Fayetteville, GA, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brian and Sabrina Carden, niece and nephew Addison and Wyatt Carden of Fayetteville GA.; her aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would especially like to thank Dr. Andrew Johnson who battled with Tracey until the end. The numerous doctors and nurses with NEGA Hospice that took care of her in her final days - they are truly angels.

Tracey's Celebration of Life will be on May 14th from 1 - 4 pm at the Braselton Civic Center with Dr. Sande Bailey officiating.  Please dress casual like Tracey would have wanted.  She would have wanted everyone to wear Auburn colors, of course.  Feel free to wear black and red, pink, purple or animal print because she loved all of those.  In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Tracey’s dear friend Sande Bailey at www.foundations4living.com.

Byrd & Flanigan Funeral Service, Lawrenceville is honored to assist the family.
