Tecla Hurley Obituary

Tecla Estelle Hurley began her journey on April 26, 1964. She was the third child born to Frank Hurley, Sr., and Florence (George) Hurley. She was raised by her grandmother Estelle George. Every Sunday Tecla would attend Bethany Baptist Church and eventually joined the Gospel Choir and the Usher Board. Tecla was in a Church seven days a week. Her education began at Concord Baptist Elementary School in 1970. She graduated from Edward R. Murrow High School and attended SUNY College at Old Westbury. It was Fuji Bank in the World Trade Center where Tecla started her career. She was there during the first bombing of the WTC and eventually was rushed to the hospital for respiratory issues. In 1995 she joined BNP Paribas Bank and worked there until 2004, then joined Suntrust Bank in Atlanta for 15 more years. She enjoyed a rewarding career as a banker, which provided her with a blessed life. Guinevere Henderson was the love of her life for 23 years and they would entertain the family at their home quite often. Family members would enjoy the pool for days during the summer and her delicious cooking year round. She enjoyed her family the most. The love and insight about life she would share is irreplaceable. Tecla is predeceased by her grandmother Estelle George, mother Florence Banks, father Frank Hurley, Sr., and sister Gail Hurley. She leaves behind Guinevere Henderson and their dog Smooch, her siblings which include her older brother, Frank Hurley and his wife Kaaron Hurley, her sister, Devika Boodram Spears and her husband Terence Spears, her brother Ram Boodram and his wife Barbara Boodram, and her brother Eric Hurley and his wife Shelva Hurley. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews including her favorite niece Tanasha Franklin, Frank Hurley III, Frisard Hurley, Sr., Donica McBean, Terence Spears, Jr., Christian Spears, Cameron Spears, Chandera Spears, Tara Spears, Tamarah Spears, David Boodram, Alex Boodram, Eysha Hurley, Sage Hurley, Melanie Elaine Peterson, Melissa Blue Muhammad, Roylan Deshawn Sims, Marshall Lance Sims, as well as great nieces and nephews including Sajaeda McNeil, Samaree Hollins, Samyiah Hollins, Frisard Hurley, Jr., Frisara Hurley, Zamir Hurley, Jahair Hurley, Madison Hurley, Saylean Hurley, Zamiyah Hurley, Brooklyn Spears, Caiden Spears, and a great great niece Rhyla McLean, plus a host of cousins, including but not limited to Russell Brown, Allyson Wells, Jacqueline Brown-Benefield, and aunts, uncles and special friends.
