Steve Russell Reeves, born August 11, 1954 passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Emory Hospital after complications from heart surgery. He was 66 years old.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Kathryn (Kat) Reeves, his mother Betty Ann Reeves, his sister, Billie Cormick, his two sons Rusty Reeves and Matt Stillwell, his stepsons Ken Patterson, Dennis Patterson and wife Mandy, Scott Patterson and wife Amanda, his five grandchildren, Jesse, Zack, Alicia, Ethan, and Parker, his three step-grandchildren, Alisa, Hayden, and Hanna, his nephew Patrick, and many cousins.
Kat and Steve have lived in Auburn, GA since 1999. Steve was blessed to have a job he loved for the past 19 years at Consolidated Pipe and Supply in Lawrenceville, where he started as a forklift operator and was promoted to work in the fabrication shop. He loved his job and coworkers, and often joked that he was going to work there until they asked him to leave. We’re pretty sure the feeling was mutual!
Steve was an avid gardener, keeping the family stocked on cucumbers and tomatoes, was a collector of Coca Cola memorabilia, and loved camping with Kat and his friends. When they first met, they often went out dancing, and Anne Murray’s “Can I have this dance for the rest of my life” was their first dance together. Steve had a huge heart for animals, making his home a haven for many rescues over the years, and he loved his 15-year-old-dog, Nova and rescue cat, Spooky. Steve made animal friends wherever he went, and when he visited your house, it wasn’t long before your pet was cuddled in his lap.
Steve’s selflessness as an organ donor has deeply moved all of us, and his universal blood type and donation means that he will help over 200 people live healthier and happier lives. All of us that knew Steve, and those who will benefit from this generous gift, are blessed to have had him in their lives. His easy-going personality, kindness, and sweet spirit made him easy to love, and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and co-workers.
Visitation is at 12pm on Saturday, March 13th at Byrd & Flanigan Crematory & Funeral Service, 288 Hurricane Shoals Rd., NE, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. A celebration of life will immediately follow. Masks are required.
