Sosa Cherian

Sosa Cherian, also known as Thankamma, born in Pullad, Kerala, on January 4th, 1936, embarked on a life journey marked by compassion, resilience, and love. She was the eldest of five children, born to Mr. Idiculla Abraham and Mrs. Aleyamma Abraham, and grew up as a guiding light for her siblings – two brothers, Kunjuju and Mathewkutty, who sadly preceded her in passing, and two sisters, Ammini, residing in Adoor, Kerala, and Marykutty, who settled in Houston, Texas.

Sosa's journey in nursing began at the esteemed Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, Punjab, where she completed her education with distinction. Her career took off in Durgapur, marking the start of a lifelong dedication of caring for others. In the midst of her professional accomplishments, Sosa's life was further enriched by her marriage to Malayil V. Cherian. They built a loving family, with their three children: Roji, Suja, and Suma.

In 1983, Sosa embarked on a courageous new chapter in the United States, aided by her brother Kunjuju who was residing in Pennsylvania. Demonstrating her resilience and determination, she brought her husband and children to Prospect Park, New Jersey, the following year. Sosa's dedication to nursing shone through her work at Christian Healthcare Center in Wyckoff, New Jersey, where she served until her retirement in 2001.

In the golden years of her retirement, Sosa basked in the warmth of family, especially her beloved grandchildren, creating memories filled with love and joy. In 2020, Sosa shifted her roots to Georgia, finding a new haven in Snellville alongside her son Roji and his family. There, she continued to enjoy everyday joys, finding serenity in the loving embrace of her family.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday February 1, 2023 from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm from the chapel of Byrd and Flanigan Funeral Home.
