Shirley Ann Hayes Chambers, 80, of Stone Mountain, GA, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 22, 2022 after a long fought battle with Parkinson's Disease. Shirley was born on November 18, 1941 to the late Mary Ada Shoemaker Hayes and Noey Gaston Hayes, Sr of Statesville, NC. She is survived by her husband, Robert Chambers; daughter, Susan Maxey, and sons Robert (Wynne) Chambers III, Gary Chambers and Richard (Donna) Chambers; her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with three sisters, Margie Campbell, Barbara (Wayne) Sloan, and Brenda (Don) Fowler and one brother, Noey Gaston Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved sister, Carol Dean Campbell.
Shirley graduated from Harmony High School in 1960 where she was the head cheerleader and homecoming queen. She married her high school sweetheart, Bobby (they were voted "cutest couple" by their classmates), on July 10, 1960 and moved to Atlanta, GA. Shirley was a very talented artist with many interests, always trying new things and never afraid to fail. She lived life to the fullest. She loved her family fiercely and deeply. Her children and grandchildren describe her as the kindest, most caring, loving and giving soul. Shirley was a fighter whose strength came from her faith in God.
She touched and inspired many, including those from her Parkinson's Support Group. Shirley was a beautiful person inside and out and will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will have a private Celebration of Life at a later date
