Obituary

Robert "Bob" Marden Prettyman, 90, died peacefully in his home surrounded by family, on Sunday, May 22, 2022, in Dacula, Georgia.  He was born on November 5, 1931, in Wilmington, Delaware.

Bob grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from Wilmington High School and took business classes at Goldey-Beacom College.  Bob proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, which included a tour at the Panama Canal. One of his first jobs was working on the crew that built the Delaware Memorial Bridge.  Bob went on to have a successful career running his own construction company and took pride in the many homes he built in North Wilmington.  Bob and his wife Lynda relocated to Lakeland, Florida before settling in the suburbs outside of Atlanta. Bob and Lynda have been active members of the River Hills Church.

Bob was best known for his kind and gentle nature. His strength and determination over the last several years has been inspirational. He never looked or acted his age. He believed in good manners and was a sharp dresser. Bob was a devoted and loving husband. He loved sharing in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, feeding the birds, growing roses, checking the mail daily, and most of all spoiling his three loyal dogs Chewy, Coco & Charlie.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Lemuel Priestly Prettyman and Helen Jenny Marden Prettyman; his brothers, Lemuel P. Prettyman Jr., Donald Prettyman, and Richard Prettyman; and his sister Erma Constance Dougherty.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lynda Lewis Prettyman; his children, Robert Mark Prettyman (Mandy), Jill Prettyman Demmy, Cynthia Prettyman Naylor (Harold), Amy Marie Hunt, Ashley Hunt Bostwick (Anthony), and David Channon Hunt (Rachel).  He was a proud PopPop to Andrew, Jack, Lilah, and Peyton; beloved Poppy to Alyssa, Morgan (Sara), Alexis, Arden, Austin, Addison, Paxton, Devynn, Kendyll, MJ, Mason, Gabby and Drake; and adored Popstar to Channon and Callen.  He was a favorite brother-in-law and cherished uncle to many.

There will be a Celebration of Bob’s Life at River Hills Church located in Winder, Georgia on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 2:00 pm.  Interment service will be held on June 27, 2022 at 11:00 am at Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware.
