Robert E. Simmons

Robert (Bob) Eugene Simmons 1940-2021 

He was  Married to Joanne Fox Simmons for 31 years, his childhood friend and high school sweetheart.  Bob was born and raised in Northern Illinois on a farm.  He graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1958.  After graduation he served in the Air Force from 1958-1962.  After the military he lived in Gwinnett County Georgia where he worked as a carpenter for 40 years.  During this time he enjoyed coaching his sons baseball teams.  Bob retired in 2002 and loved travel, spending time with family and friends, and was an avid Braves fan.

He is survived by his wife Joanne Fox Simmons of Bethlehem, sons and daughters in law David Simmons & Kelda Corn of Statham, Steve & Lisa Simmons of Conyers, Gary & Pam Simmons of Pendergrass, step daughters & son in law Penny & Chris English of Niceville, FL, Peggy Jackson of Birmingham. AL, grandchildren Sheldon Wilcox, Vanessa English, Tabitha Gibson, Brooke Henson, Patrick Janssen, Danielle Dobbins, Ashleigh Simmons, Laine Simmons, Madison Simmons, Trenton Jackson, Rochelle Jackson, great grandchildren Ford Henson, Kendall Gibson, Mckenzie Wilcox, Shealon Wilcox, Jayden Jackson, Grace Janssen, Georgia Janssen.
