Richard W. Golly

Richard (Dick) William Golly, age 71, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away on February 10, 2021.  He was born in Winnebago, MN, on June 15, 1949, to Harold and Helen (Robertson) Golly. He was the youngest of four children.

Richard lived a wonderful childhood.  Being raised on a farm he developed a strong work ethic and experienced the joy of a family unit working and playing together. He attended Huntley School in Huntley, MN and was a respected leader in his class. He enjoyed participating in sports and music.    Richard graduated from Mankato State University in Mankato, MN, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.  

He began his career working for a private accounting firm and for the school district in Hutchinson, MN.   Assuming a position as accountant at Willmar Medical Center in Willmar, MN lead him on a path of healthcare administration, consulting for medical practices, and recruiting medical professionals for medical practices in various locations in the Midwest and the Southeast of the US.  His leadership skills were key in the growth and expansion of the medical practices he was part of.

He married Ruth Ann Scearcy, from Huntley, in 1972, and they had two children, Daniel and Karna.  His family was very important to him.  They recall  Richard as a loving nurturing husband and father, always putting their welfare first.  

Richard possessed a caring spirit for others, and his joy in life was helping others reach their potential in their personal and professional lives.  His life of hard work and sacrifice set an example for others. He was known as a man of integrity and for his acts of love, kindness, and friendliness. He lived a life of service to God and others serving many capacities in churches where he was a member. He was a member of The Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, GA, at the time of his death.  He enjoyed traveling, and spending time with family.   

Richard is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann, his son, Daniel (wife Michelle), his daughter, Karna (husband Brendan Egan), and five grandchildren: Bela, Alexander, Katherine, Sabine, and Nathaniel.  He is survived by his brother Tom (Judy), and sisters Sharon Grefe and Mary (Duane) Larson and several nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Helen Golly and brother-in-law Bill Grefe.    Richard will always be remembered for his love of life and adventure, love for family and God, and a life well lived.
