Paul Spence Rasmussen

After a relatively brief but difficult battle with cancer, Paul Spence Rasmussen of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on October 24, 2021 at the age of 63. Paul was an avid poker and chess player, excelled at his part time job as day trader, loved spending his days on the lake and beach alike, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a fun sense of humor and great smile. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Rasmussen MD PhD, and Jane Rasmussen MD, along with his sister, Gail Rasmussen MD.
Paul was born in New York City, NY and spent his childhood between Madison, Wisconsin, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Cambridge, England. He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut with an Economics degree. He then earned a graduate business computer programming degree from Computer Processing Institute. After graduation in 1981, he accepted a job at Management Science America Inc. and moved to Atlanta, GA. He then started work on his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Georgia State. He went on to work for Equifax Inc. and lastly the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, where he retired after 26 faithful years of service. After retirement, he became an accomplished artist, having works displayed in galleries around the Atlanta area.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Melissa Olsen-Rasmussen, his two adoring daughters, and his son-in-law, Rebecca Rasmussen, Sarah Rasmussen-Hage, and Peter Hage. He will also be mourned by his brother, Craig Rasmussen, his sister, Jane Christopher MD, and his brother-in-law, Thomas Christopher MD.
We already miss your contagious laugh, sense of humor and devotion to your family. We love you dearly Paul; you will forever be in our hearts. May you rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
Memorial Service at 11am, November 13, 2021 at Cannon United Methodist in Snellville GA. Gathering following the memorial at Eagle’s Landing Café and Grill in Lawrenceville.
