Marissa Joann Frederick “Bae Bae”
The world lost a beautiful smile and heaven gained a beautiful soul. Marissa was born a Georgia Peach. She graduated in ’96 from Berkmar, when “Tha Crossroads” hit double platinum and now it hits differently. Marissa lived as an ATLien and passed in her home filled with her loved ones and by her side. After a short battle with cancer, Marissa had a grand rising Monday morning on May 17th. She is survived by her children Malik and Emily Frederick, grandmother Kate Frederick, and daughter-in-law Mailin Simmons. She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, Faith and Elyana Burke, Nyshawna, Shamel, Jeremiah, Jaidon, Ava, Amiya, and Zaidon who adore her. Bae Bae was influential in the lives of countless children who made up the entirety of her world. Along with all the children, Marissa is survived by her parents, dad Keith and Patty Frederick, momma Bernice Frederick and Scott Combs, PopPop. Siblings Larissa and Gary and Kaleigh “Sister” Livingston. She was blessed with many aunts and uncles, over 80 cousins and several special friends. Marissa was welcomed into Paradise by cousins, other family members and her Granny.
At an early age Marissa became a devoted mother. Marissa was not a perfect mother but there are a million ways she was a good one. Her young age enhanced her ability to love unconditionally and abundantly. As she was nurturing her own children she shared her compassion and support to many others. Bae Bae always had a giving heart, loyalty and brought laughter for everyone.
Marissa spent her last year as she always did, with her family and in her garden. She only was able to do it more during the pandemic because she didn’t spend so much time at Kroger. Bae Bae was a devoted Star Teacher to her Star Student Amiya and was determined to teach her math the “correct way”. There was not a child that wouldn’t embrace her smile. There was no limit to her patience with children. The legacy of Bae Bae will continue for generations by the influences she left on the lives she shined in. Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy, they are charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
A Celebration for Marissa’s life will be held Saturday, May 22nd with visitation at 10 am and at 11:11 am, as per Marissa’s lifelong instruction to all of us, we will make a wish and the celebration will begin.
