On April 14th, 1929, Ms. Gladys Young Mallory was born to the late Daisy Mae Ellis and Willie “Mighty Joe” Young in Boydton, Virginia. She was one of 12 children & was the beloved wife of the late Charles Mallory. Gladys moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1947, after graduating high school. After marrying the late Charles Mallory, she was blessed with one daughter, Beverly Loretta Mallory Porter. Gladys was employed at the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens, New York as a Dietary Aide, where she attended to patients devotedly for thirty-four years before retiring in 1991. Gladys was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and Aunt. She loved to play bingo, travel, visit the casino, and helping people. She enjoyed her family and her friends. Her vibrant personality touched a many of hearts. She leaves to cherish her memory, a son- in law John Porter, 2 grandchildren; Stacie and Tracey Porter, a grand-daughter-in law, Shawanda Stancil-Porter; 6 great-grandchildren (3 great-grand daughters, Candace, Beverly & Kennedi), and 3 great grandsons, (Tracey Jr “Juju”, Dramarius “Dees”, and Jaelon). And a host of nieces, nephews, and many loving relatives and friends. She quietly departed this life peacefully, April 25th, 2018 at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The family will receive friends Wednesday May 2, 2018 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Byrd and Flanigan Crematory & Funeral Service with Rev. Ollie L. Stancil Officiating.
