Gita Ghosh (nee: Das Munshi)
11 April 1951 – 16 January 2023

On January 16, 2023, Mrs. Gita Ghosh (71) joined her late husband – Dr. Sreejoy K. Ghosh. She was born in New Delhi and relocated to Atlanta, GA, USA in 2018. While she spent most of her life in India, she traveled extensively to Asia, Europe, and North America, and briefly lived in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Oxford, England.
Mrs. Ghosh valued education – both for herself, receiving a Master of Arts in Economics from St. John’s College in Agra, India – and empowered her own children, grandchildren and community to aspire to a lifetime of learning. She devoted her life to serving others, from teaching mathematics
and economics, to founding a school for underprivileged children, to knitting caps for children with cancer, or feeding the hungry. Her everyday actions strived to make a difference in the lives of others, through her gentle disposition, warm and welcoming smile, and an open heart. Her never-quit attitude and resolve ‘to get things done’ was a light of hope and positivity that inspired many lives.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and auntie to her adoring family – always putting others before herself. She was the common thread that wove the family together. Her legacy will continue through her daughters Smita and Suchita Ghosh, 3 grandchildren (Shreya, Pranjai and Pristine) and many nieces and nephews. Her memory will be cherished by her extended family and friends across the globe.

We welcome you to join us to celebrate her life, and prepare her spiritual journey. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 am (US Eastern time) on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Byrd and Flanigan Funeral Home, 288 Hurricane Shoals Road, NE, Lawrenceville, GA 30046.
