George Podes Obituary

On July 22, 2022 we lost George Peter Podes tragically and unexpectedly. Our loss comes at a time where his true legacy has not been realized. He was known by some as Peter, others may have know him as GP, or George, or even Farmer George, but by all as a truly gifted young man who had a significant impact on so many of us. People who were closest to him would describe him as follows; always artistic in his approach to everything in life, opportunistic as an entrepreneur at a very young age, an internal toughness rarely seen, and a deep love for those who loved him unconditionally.

Additionally, Peter had many loves in life. He was an passionate Miami Hurricane fan. He also had a great passion of music starting with the old school days of Run DMC and Afrika Bambaataa to the Miami sound of 2live Crew and the great truth tellers that is NWA. He also had a great love for the hard edge of Rage against the machine and Audioslave. Without question his biggest love in music was The Beastie Boys. He was the fourth Beastie Boy if there ever was one! Make no mistake he loved these artists so much because their art spoke to his internal characteristics of being relentless, unapologetic, and their desire to question the status quo in search for the real truth.

Peter was a hard working man but he never let his work dictate who he was, or he was going to be. Aside from a few in between jobs, Peter served as a lead surveyor on the pipeline detail out west, he also served as an engineer on the Atlantic Station building in downtown Atlanta, and had a window washing company in South Carolina which he operated with his best friend Josh Hodges. One of his proudest accomplishments was serving as a farmer, legally growing some of more creative and unique strains of Cannabis in the state of Colorado. He stated many times how proud he was to develop a therapy that was going to be used by so many who suffer so much from debilitating symptoms.

Peter came into this world on February 19th, 1971 and grew up in Stone Mountain while also spending a significant amount of time in Miami. He had many places he stayed throughout his life, but always considered Atlanta his home.

Peter is predeceased by his mother Patricia. He is survived by his child, Olivia along with his brothers Angelo, with his wife Lisa and Christopher, and his wife Sasha. His sisters Mary, with her husband Johnny, and Stephanie and her husband Tani. His father Peter and his wife Susan. His aunt Sissy, several nieces and nephews.
