On Sunday, April 4, 2021, Edmund Ryan, father of 3 children and grandfather to 6, passed away at age 81. Edmund was born on April 11, 1939 in Portland, Oregon to John and Delna (Longstreth) Ryan. After graduating from Central Catholic High School, he enlisted in the Air Force for a career that lasted 27 years and 5 months, rising to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Specializing in Communications, his military duty stations ranged from Alaska to Florida in the United States, to France and the United Kingdom in Europe. Following his military service, he continued his Communications career with Motorola by overseeing the installation of cell phone towers and cell phone antennas.
Edmund had a passion for sports, which led him to become a soccer referee and ultimately officiating NCAA matches. Throughout his years, he was an avid photographer, a voracious reader, and a lover of Braves baseball. He was best known as someone who never met a stranger and always left a lasting impression with the long conversations he had with everyone he encountered. An internally religious man, he was a person of faith, and was a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus.
Edmund was preceded in death by his father, John, and his mother Delna. He is survived by Anne Ryan, his three children, Kieran Andersen (Dennis), John Ryan (Angela), Angela Fuhrman (Tim), his brothers Denis Ryan (Sally), Fred Ryan (Marj), Tom Ryan (Jennie), Pat Ryan (Karri), and grandchildren, Ailish, Kian, Jude, Liam, Declan, Maeve, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 16th, 11am, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church at 319 Grayson Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA. ByrdandFlanigan.com
