David James Bryant, of Snellville, Georgia died on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Gwinnett Medical Center. He was 88 years old. David was born on March 19,1932 in Atlanta, Georgia the second son of Lee Roy Bryant and Ruby (Sosebee) Bryant.He attended Grady High School and received both his undergraduate (1958) and graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 1952 he married Dorothy June Hall with whom he had four children. In 1967, he remarried Michaele Twisdale with whom he had three children.
David joined the United States Air Force after high school and served honorably in the Korean War. After completing his college degrees, he worked in the defense industry continuing to dedicate himself to the service of his country. His early work included the Mercury and Gemini space programs in the early 1960s. A unique soul, David had a sharp wit, a compassionate nature, and a boundless desire to innovate. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, camping, and making improvements to his immediate environment. David will be greatly missed by his family and friends, of which he had many of each. David is predeceased by his parents as well as his siblings Jewel Coffee, Roberta Cochran, Jack Bryant, and Martha Queen. He is survived by his wife Michaele Bryant, four daughters Debby Mapp of McDonough GA, Lisa Pitt and her husband Bill of Locust Grove GA, Lynn Elisabeth Bryant of Loganville GA, Rebecca Docherty and her husband Dennis of Snellville GA and his three sons, Brad Bryant and his wife Ann of Ft. Pierce FL, Matt Bryant and his wife Cordie of Pelion SC, and Robert Bryant of Snellville GA. Thirteen grandchildren Robby Mapp, Nick Mapp, Joshua Pitt, Mandi Slauson, Peggy Sue Pitt, Joni Uvalle, Johanna Uvalle, Jenne Uvalle, Jamie Bryant, Alexander Mata, Christian Bryant, Joshua Thomas Mullane, and Justin Mullane. Twenty-three great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren. A Commital Service will be held Monday August 24, 2020 at 11:30 am at Georgia National Cemetery.
