Calvin "Cal" Warlick age 83 of Lawrenceville GA; passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Cal had a lifelong career as an artist & illustrator beginning out of high school in 1959. Cal's creative career was broad reaching and included time with the Atlanta Journal & Constitution's art department, news outlets such as Channel 5 and Gwinnett Daily News. Eventually he began freelancing and developed a passion for creating collegiate football mascot prints that brought lots of joy to people's homes & families.
The driving force behind Cal's art was his loving spirit. Cal was always ready to welcome others with funny tales from his past whether it was stories from his time working the soda shop counter or adventures on the golf course with his beloved grandson, Alex. Cal had a big heart, cared deeply for those in his life, and was unfailingly kind. But his most unique talent wasn't his own traits -- it was how he managed to bring out the best qualities in all those who had the good fortune to cross paths with him.
Cal was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Lawrenceville GA. Cal was preceded in death by his parents Charles & Myrtis Taylor Warlick, daughters Debra Warlick and Laurie Warlick, brothers, Charlie Warlick and Ralph Warlick. Cal is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Sue Warlick, grandson Alex Rohrer (Alyna), sister Sarah (Don) Hall, sisters-in-law June Warlick, Joanne Warlick, and several nieces & nephews. A Celebration Life Service will be held on Saturday February 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Byrd & Flanigan Funeral Service, Lawrenceville GA with Pastor James Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of service.
