Bruce Robert Boerner Obituary

Successful Entrepreneur with a thirst for knowledge Bruce Robert Boerner will be remembered with love long after his passing. Bruce passed away on September 8th, 2021, at the age of 90; he has left behind a loving family who will strive to honor his memory by living their lives to the fullest.

Bruce lived a fulfilled life born in New York to the late Herman and Agnes Boerner.  Raised in Forest Hills, Queens, and moved to Cheshire, Connecticut in 1942.  Attended University of Connecticut, served in the US Army, deployed to Salzburg, Austria, Germany, and many places statewide.  Transferred to Atlanta, October 1959 and two years later started FCA Financial. In addition to financial counseling, he opened two package stores in Atlanta.    In February 1978, he married Joanne Carson Cannon.   Bruce co-parented his children, Scott and Sherri Boerner, as well as helped raise Joanne’s son, Shay Cannon.

Bruce loved adventure and was a bit of a daredevil during his lifetime; he made many sport parachutes jumps and enjoyed riding motorcycles.  He loved flying so much he became a pilot and even owned several airplanes.  He and his wife enjoyed boating, skiing, and snowmobiling. They enjoyed many vacations stateside and abroad, including several cruises. He will be fondly remembered for his time spent on the beach with his family floating on his favorite raft.

Bruce is preceded in death by his oldest son Scott Robert Boerner 11/1961 to 3/2020. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Joanne, his daughter, Sherri and husband Patrick Harvey,  son, Shay and wife Kaki Cannon, daughter-in-law Kim Boerner and six grandchildren, Pierce and Madison Boerner, Sofia Cannon, Cameron, Connor, and Ian Harvey, as well as many South Carolina relatives. Bruce was a huge part of his family’s lives; his absence is greatly felt, and he will be missed. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He enjoyed a great life.

Celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at a later date.
