Woman of valor, faithful wife, dedicated mother, loving grandmother, and beloved by many.

Wilma Mercy Hawkins, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on September 27, 2024 at the age of 86. She was born on November 12, 1937 in Calcutta, India, a place truly dear to her heart, to Cyril Sebastian Gomes and Violet Gomes. Her brothers were Eugene, Osmund, Vernon, Alvin, Neville and she is survived by her sister Maureen.

Along with her sister, Wilma is survived by her husband of 66 years and best friend, Rudolph Hawkins, her 'darling' children, Richard Hawkins, Guiden Hawkins, Christine Sarkar, and Terrence Hawkins, and her loving grandchildren Josiah, Cristabel, Shannon, Curtis, Rochelle, Titus, Ryan, and Zayne.

Wilma had a passion for cooking the very best Anglo-Indian dishes, dancing to any and everything with the right beat, but especially jive, and listening to her favorite artists like Jim Reeves, Alan Jackson, and Patsy Cline but gospel music above all. She cherished spending time with her family and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Most importantly, she was a woman of God and delighted in the Lord every day of her life.

Wilma will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. We rejoice in the knowledge that she will be joining her parents, siblings, and beloved firstborn grandson, Joshua, in heaven.
