Wayne Burdette DeLong III, 58 of Dacula, Georgia passed away on March 14th, 2026 after a strong fought 3 year battle with ALS.
Wayne was born in Bryan Ohio on October 10, 1967 to Wayne (Katie) DeLong Jr. Wayne graduated from Bryan High School in 1986 and he then enlisted in the United States Army. He met his wife Lisa (McGuire) DeLong, his high school sweetheart and they married in 1986 and she joined him on his deployment to South Korea.
Wayne spent a majority of his career working as a construction Senior Superintendent working on numerous Water/Wastewater treatment facilities projects across Ohio, Indiana, and Georgia with each move providing better opportunities for his family.
Wayne spent his Saturdays in the fall cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes, he was also an avid golfer and he enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids. He enjoyed vacations at the beach, UP Michigan as well as traveling with Lisa to various golf courses.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father Wayne DeLong Jr brother-in-law John Bishop and his nephews Andrew Kramer and great nephew Noah Fry.
He is survived by his wife Lisa DeLong of Dacula, GA, children Ashley DeLong of Braselton, GA and Alex(Sarah) DeLong of Dallas, NC. Grandchildren Marley, Cooper Frase and Ellie DeLong. Mother Katie DeLong of Bryan, OH sisters Colleen DeLong of Fort Wayne, IN and Caren Neal of Corpus Cristi, TX, brothers Willard (Doris) of Bryan, OH and Walter (Erin) DeLong of Claremore, OK. Sister-in-laws Peggy (Gene) Harvey and Connie Bishop both of Bryan, OH. brother in law David McGuire of Bryan, OH. 10 nieces and nephews and numerous great (great) nieces and nephews as well as many loving friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday March 23, 2026 from the chapel of Byrd and Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Lynch officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday March 23, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking any donations be made to HealingALS.org in honor or Wayne DeLong.
