Mrs. Virginia Ann Wineinger, age 81, of Stone Mountain, passed awayon Sunday, February 4, 2024. She was born August 4, 1942 in Waltham, Massachusetts to the late James and Helen Amero. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Amero. Ginny is survived by her husband of 57 years, Mr. V. Gene Wineinger; her sons Brian Scott, Chris Wineinger (Patti), and Kevin Wineinger (Tammy); grandchildren Crystal Scott, Allison Scott, Michael Scott (Hannah), Samantha Henderson (Brody), Joshua Wineinger, Kaitlyn Wineinger, and Hannah Wineinger; great-grandchildren Bentley Henderson and Lyla Scott; brother Bobby Amero (Sue); sister Margie Robb (Rich); and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ginny was an avid quilter and in addition to making countless quilts for family and friends, she volunteered at Quilts of Valor where she donated many quilts to service members and veterans touched by war. In addition, she was a quilter for the 1996 Olympic games. Her first quilt went to Republic of Moldova, her second went to Libya, and her third went to Namibia for the para-Olympics. She and her husband, Gene, took in 27 foster children during their marriage. In recent years, Ginny enjoyed substitute teaching in Gwinnett County.
The family will receive friends at Byrd and Flanigan Funeral Home on Saturday February 10, 2024 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
