Obituary

Mrs. Virginia Hight Braswell Cooper age 102 of Atlanta, Ga formerly of Loganville, GA passed away Saturday May 19, 2018. She Descended from one of the pioneer families of Walton County, born in a house made of heart of Cyprus from the swamps of south Georgia, built by her father outside of Loganville, GA, when he married Minnie Hight in 1904. Virginia was the second of three children.  Other brother Charles Wesley b. 1910 and Wade Hampton b. 1920. She was graduated from Montreat and the UGA. She began her teaching career in Norcross, GA where she received praise from the Board of Education.  She then taught for 30 years at Benteen School for the City of Atlanta.  She finished her teaching career 9 years later in Norcross, GA In the 80s she was inducted into the National Honor Society for Teachers. She was preceded in death by her husband Hoke who died in 1961.  Together they were very active in Martha Brown Church and their Southside Community. She is survived by Son - Donald Hoke Cooper of Atlanta, Daughter & Son In Law - Marsha C.  & David Garth King of Atlanta, Grandaughters Katherine King of Brooklyn, NY, Karen King of Atlanta, 4 Great Grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday May 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery 2299 Rosebud Road SW, Grayson, GA 30017. With Dr. Jim Cantrell officiating.
