Obituary

Vincent "Scott" Tilley, age 52, of Sugar Hill, Georgia, died April 23rd, 2020 at his home after a valiant fight against cancer. Scott was born in East Point, Georgia in 1968.  He graduated from Sequoyah High School in Doraville, Georgia where he enjoyed playing sports including football, wrestling and gymnastics.  After a short time in community college, Scott began helping manage a family business, Budget Sign Shops, started by his grandfather,  Boyd Tilley.  This became his chosen profession.  He eventually took ownership of Budget Signs, sold it to a larger sign printing business, and most recently was employed by Displayit as a Production Print Manager.

Scott's hobbies included travel, supporting Atlanta sports teams, and Georgia Bulldog Football. He loved his cats, Princess and Jake.  But his favorite hobby of all was music, notably rock 'n roll, cutting his teeth on classic rock bands like Kiss, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC of the '70's and '80's.  At an early age, Scott discovered he had an ear for music, learning how to play the violin, piano and guitar, becoming a very proficient guitarist along the way.  He loved playing pickup gigs with several friends in his own band.  Throughout his life, Scott made many friends because he always had a kind word or a helping hand and easily made people smile.  He was the epitome of a selfless loving man and he will truly be missed.

He is survived by his Father, Richard Boyd Tilley Sr. and his wife, Doris of Gainesville, GA; brother, Richard (Rick) Boyd Tilley Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Marietta, nieces, Vena Kathryn and Margaret Rose;  brother, Patrick Tilley of Flowery Branch, GA;  sisters, Sandy Glascoe of Alpharetta, GA, Karen Traeger of Atlanta, GA,  and Laurie Morgan of Flowery Branch, GA, and several other nieces and nephews as well his loving girlfriend, Erica Ruffolo.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Vena Vincent Tilley; maternal grandparents, Joe and Wilma Vincent; and paternal grandparents, Boyd and Maude Tilley.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 26th from 2pm until 4pm at the funeral home.  Due to the pandemic, we will practice social distancing and limit visitation to 10 people at a time.  A mask should be worn and anyone with symptoms, kindly stay home. A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2020, at 11:00 am. You may view the graveside service by clicking on the link http://www.sundaystreams.com/go/byrdandflanigan
