Vanessa C. Kearney, 64, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away after battling lung cancer on Saturday, October 1, 2022. She was born in Newnan, GA on March 30, 1958 and enjoyed watching sports, volunteering, traveling, spending time with her family, and celebrating others.  Vanessa was preceded in death by her mother, Gwendolyn Ector McDonald, and father, Willie Clarence Cousins Sr.  She took her final breath surrounded by her husband of 35 years, James Kearney, Jr., and two daughters, Jaynaé (Allen) Brown and Jalonna (Jamarcus) Kearney-Rodgers. Vanessa is survived by her sister, Gwendolyn Goodwine; brother, Willie Clarence Cousins, Jr.; nieces, Jocelyn Goodwine, Vanessa Goodwine, and Natel Cousins; great-nieces, Anessa McDaniel and Janai Nelson; great-nephew, Marcus Bridges; granddaughter, Kennedy Brown; and countless other family members.  A private celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, October 30 at 11:30am at Byrd and Flanigan Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to and/or join Team Vanessa's Pumpkins on the American Lung Association website at http://action.lung.org/goto/vanessakearney .  The family sends heartfelt appreciation for your prayers, telephone calls, flowers, and all other expressions of kindness extended to them during the passing of their beloved.
