Obituary

Tim Deter of Dacula Georgia, was taken too soon from this earth on December 2, 2025. Cancer did not defeat him at the age of 17. Due to the wear of treatments, God brought him through many other serious conditions. Early in 2025 Tim once again had to fight Cancer. This time God was ready to bring him home.

Tim was born to Paul Leroy Deter and Peggy Hudson Deter on November 15, 1963, in Winter Park Florida, and He was reunited with them on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, but not before meeting his Savior face to face.

Tim found the love of his life, Penny Button at Winn Dixie in 1980. He is survived by Penny and their two sons, Scott (Lori Stallsmith) of Auburn, GA, and Christopher (Cheryl Gaughan) of Dacula, and Daughter, Angela Frizzell (Steve) of Dacula. Tim leaves a legacy of faith for his grandchildren Christian Hicks, Dehlia, David, Krystal, Timothy James (TJ), Elliott, and Evan. He had no greater joy than to know that they are walking after truth, in the life that Christ has for them, and plans to be rejoined with each of them one day.

Tim is also survived by his three brothers, Paul Leroy Jr. (Donna), Richard Charles (Donna), and Samuel James (Darla) numerous nieces and nephews from each side of the family. There are too many to name, but you can be assured that family gatherings have always been a great joy and very special in the Deter home.

In days past, you would find Tim bowling in leagues and joining family and friends in travels to National Bowling Tournaments. He loved playing cards, chess, pool, ping pong and other things that would engage in fellowship with others. He loved sharing in these activities every Sunday with children and grandchildren, but also with others. As health declined, fellowship and a meal with good Christian friends was truly a great joy.

Tim's greatest love shined through his life on a daily basis, sharing Jesus in word and deed to most everyone he met. He was not only in love with Jesus, but knew when Jesus said in Ephesians… "To Him be glory in the church", he would make his children and grandchildren be accountable to being with him to worship every week, as it was not just a passing ritual for Tim.

He found a home at Grace Baptist Church of Auburn, GA where he had a growing family in the Lord. Tim served as worship leader, Sunday School Superintendent, and faithful steward. Over the years, Tim has fallen more and more in love with Jesus and was so excited to share in worship with friends and family at Grace. His greatest legacy he leaves with us all: To Love and live for Jesus. Tim will be missed by so many, but he is made whole and praising Jesus like never before, and for that we can also praise Jesus in spite of the pain.
