Thomas Lloyd “Butch” Williams, 81, passed away July 14, 2026, in Buford, GA. He was the son of Lloyd Mack Williams and Mary Sue Williams, and the younger brother of Judy Shalongo and June Patton, all of whom preceded him in death. Thomas was a graduate of Franklin County High School in Winchester, TN, where he grew up. He graduated from Tennessee Tech with a Bachelor of Science Education, and he later completed his Master of Education, followed by a Master of Public Administration at Middle Tennessee State University. Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge from active duty, he had achieved the rank of Sergeant. In further service to his country, he joined the Air National Guard. When he retired in 1995, he had achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. In civilian life, he continued his dedication to public service with the Social Security Administration for over 20 years. Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 23 years, Barbara Ann Williams, and is survived by his step-children Tammy Clark of Buford, GA and Steven Hackney of Smyrna, TN; 2 cherished grandchildren, Chloe Witham of Dupont, WA and Bruce Clark of Buford, GA; 1 great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. Thomas will be buried with Military Honors at the Georgia National Cemetery on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 12:30 pm
