Obituary

Thomas Clarence Thompson, age 81, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florence Thompson, and his brother, Scott.

Tom was born in Scottville, Michigan, and graduated in 1959 from Mason County Central HS.  He is a graduate of Michigan State University and retired from NAC International of Peachtree Corners, Georgia.  He also resided in South Bend, Indiana, and Copley, Ohio, during his earlier career as a structural engineer.

Tom was the beloved husband of Carol Pushman Thompson; a loving brother of Kristine (Joe) James; a patient father of Cammie (Eric) Stephens, Greg (Laura) Thompson, and Ryan (Karen) Thompson; a devoted grandfather of Catherine (Xavier) Williams, Mary Stephens, Ellie and Josh Thompson, and Andrew, Jenna, and Trevor Thompson. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Cindy Pushman, sister-in-law Terri (Lee) Bartlett, sister-in-law Virginia Peoples, and many nieces and nephews.

Tom cherished the time spent with his family.  He was a steady fan of Georgia Tech sports and the Atlanta Braves.  He enjoyed bridge, bowling, playing softball, tennis, and golfing with his friends.  He always supported his children and grandchildren in their activities.  Tom was very active at Trinity Lutheran Church and held many leadership roles over the years, including building projects, Church Council, and as a frequent chef for Men's Breakfasts.  In his retirement years, he volunteered on Thrivent grant projects, Hurricane Katrina support, and the Trinity Community Garden. He was active in weekly Bible study, JUST Club, and Small Group. He touched many lives. Tom's devotion to serving family and friends was unwavering.

Tom's memorial service will be held on June 5 at 1 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church (1826 Killian Hill Road, Lilburn, Georgia 30047), with Pastor Katie Christie and Pastor Scott Sessler officiating. Family will visit with friends and guests at a reception to be held at the church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.  Please indicate "Tom Thompson Memorial" in the memo line; memorial gifts will go to Trinity's Columbarium Fund.
