Thelma Ruth Belcher Sunrise 9/24/28- Sunset 4/8/17 On September 24 1928 Thelma Ruth Jones was born In Chatham Virginia by her mother Annie Sue Jones also of Chatham VA, Thelma who was also known as Peewee and was called Doll Anne as a child was the only child of her mother Annie Sue Harris who left Chatham Va. In the 30's and moved to New York to pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer. Thelma stayed behind in Chatham and was raised by her grandfather Celeb Jones and her host of Aunt's and Uncles. Thelma was a member of Shokoe Baptist Church in Chatham Va at a very young age, and after having her three boys Edward, Michael, and Henry being the youngest Thelma decided to move to NYC in 1956 to be with her Mother and start a new life and career of her own, and by 1959 she had another child a little Girl she named Vanessa Anne Peewee was the name that Thelma was often called by family and friends and while staying in N.Y. she would go up to the Bronx to visit her Cousin Carol and happen to stumbled on a restaurant on Boston Road where she would go to regularly, This restaurant was owned by Rev. Spivey, Who invited her to come to Sunday Service and she did, and after attending a few services she decided to become a member of Rehoboth Church of God and Christ where she attended her entire stay in New York City. Peewee Landed a Position at Time and Life in downtown Manhattan where she worked for almost 30 years until she retired and Moved to Danville Va. Unfortunately there she suffered a stroke in 2001 after learning of the 911 attack on New York City because all of her baby's were in New York at the time and the stroke left her paralyzed completely on her right side You see this is the type of Mother that she was, She would nurture neighborhood children, children in need, people in need and she was a fixer of brokenness of any kind rather materialistic things or spiritual brokenness she held the key to make it alright even at times when she herself may have been broken, She loved her family beyond measures and would sacrifice all that she had to help those around her. The Stroke didn't stop her at all, she was determined to overcome any obstacles life had given her she was very independent and had a craft that carries on through the generations of her children, grandchildren, and great grands. Thelma was a jack of all trades there wasn't much she couldn't do. Thelma's children all joined in to provide care for they're mother starting from the next to oldest Michael then her youngest Vanessa Then her youngest Son Henry and by 2007 She came back to her daughter Vanessa and together the three siblings agreed it was in her best interest to have placed in one of the most prestigious nursing facilities in Gwinnett County named Delmar Gardens where she was given the upmost care by all staff members, and she stayed there happy for (12) years. While there as a resident, unfortunately, she lost her oldest child Edward Jones Thelma leaves behind to mourn (3)children Raleigh Michael Wright, Henry Mack Wright and her only daughter Vanessa Ann Speed she also leaves (12) grandchildren three of whom she helped raise Iyeshia Sessoms, Sapphire Smith and Michelle James and a host of great-grandchildren, family and friend's who love and will miss her dearly.  A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Byrd & Flanigan Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, GA.  The family will recieve friends on Saturday from 11:00 am until service time.
