Terrissa Eilleen Duke went to be with our Lord after passing peacefully from her home in Lawrenceville, Georgia, on January 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. In her final days, she was tenderly cared for by her family and supported by Agape Hospice.
Terrissa was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Duke; her daughter, Carmon Juanita Hunter; her mother, Mayme Carlisle Barron; her father, Edgar Barron; and her siblings: Constance McDowell, John Barron, and Sandra Wright. She is survived by her son Marcus Terrell; her grandson, Rick Hunter and great grandson Maddox; and grandson Ray Hunter (Winter) and great grandson Hunter; her siblings: Vona Elaine Scott (Legrant), Louise Butler (Jimmy), Gayle Bellew (Elbert), Charles Barron (Marsha), Michael Barron (Mary), Debra Chapman (Ron), Tammy Haney (Joel), and Douglas McDowell (Jill). She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews and their families.
Terrissa will be remembered for her laughter, deep love of family and the warmth of her sense of humor that brought joy to those around her. She was born in Chattanooga Tennessee and grew up in Alabama. Later she moved to Georgia where she raised her children and retired from AT&T Terrissa was a hardworking woman who always placed the needs of others before her own. She touched countless lives with her kindness and devotion.
She will be laid to rest at Rainbow Memorial Gardens in Gadsden, Alabama, the city where she grew up. A graveside service will be announced at a later date. Her life will also be celebrated privately by her family in Lawrenceville, GA at Byrd and Flanigan Crematory and Funeral Home.
