She was 73 years old.  Ruby was a lifelong resident of the Atlanta area, born September 29, 1947, at Crawford Long Hospital. Other survivors include her Children, Susan Williams, Sheila Chapman, and Samantha Powell.  As well as her grandchildren, Evan Williams, Mary Alice Chapman, Austin Williams, Scarlet Williams, Henry Powell, and Charlie Powell.  She attended Columbia High School. She is fondly remembered by her classmates as smiling, encouraging, and being a good friend to them all. One wrote, " she was always such a sweet cheerful soul. The kind of person who brought a smile to the many people she ran into. She worked in the insurance field for more than twenty years.  She then went into the legal field as a closing secretary for several law firms.  She was also a sewing instructor and Sales Person for A1 Sewing Machine Company in Tucker, Georgia, until her retirement.  Sewing was very important to Ruby. She sewed for church, family, and friends.  It was an enjoyable hobby of hers. Ruby attended Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur Georgia, where she served faithfully as a Church Mother until her health began to decline. Her family and friends will sorely miss her gentle smile and compassionate personality. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dekalb County Humane Society.
