Richard Calvin Giffe age 58 of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away Tuesday June 23, 2026.

Richard loved his Lord and was a caring, giving person and was a compassionate prayer warrior, he would give the shirt off his back to help others. Richard was a 1993 graduate of Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service and was licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in Georgia and Tennessee.  Richard also served in the United States Air Force from March 27, 1987 until February 14, 1989. Receiving The Meritorious Service Award, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Overseas  Short Tour Ribbon, and Air Force Training Ribbon.  Airman Giffe's outstanding professional skills, knowledge, dedication and personal drive were demonstrated by his efforts during the uploading, transporting and warehousing of 6,000 general purpose bombs and 600 cluster bomb units in support of project "Stuff It." His efforts significantly reduced the money and man-hours needed to maintain these assets. He worked closely with visiting "Air Flex" representatives while assembling 21 of these structures. Airman Giffe quickly absorbed repair techniques that have saved this section numerous hours of troubleshooting. His contributions significantly enhanced the mission capability of the 43rd Munitions Maintenance Squadron, 43rd Bombardment Wing, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.

He is survived by his parents James E. & Lena Pulley Giffe of Fuquay Varina, NC, sister Joy Wilson of Fuquay Varina, NC, brothers Michael Giffe of Fuquay Varina, NC, Bill Giffe of Chattanooga, TN, Aunt Shirley Bullard of Lillington, NC, niece Elizabeth Rutkowski, great niece Isabella Rutkowski, great nephew Gavin Cooper all of Chattanooga, TN.

The Family will receive friends on Thursday June 25, 2026 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Byrd and Flanigan Funeral Home 288 Hurricane Shoals Rd NE Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
