IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Pauline Lorees
Reid
May 15, 1944 – June 27, 2025
Pauline Lorees Reid was born on May 15, 1944, in Kingston, Jamaica. Affectionately called Sis. Pauline, was the 12th and youngest child of Walter and Albertha Reid (ten girls and two boys). A precocious child, Pauline would give her teachers a run for their money, often getting into trouble because she didn't always listen. Pauline's two brothers and nine sisters shared a special bond. They taught her how to cook and sew – skills she would find useful later on with her own family. Once Pauline came of age, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized in the Pentecostal faith. In 1965, Pauline married Eaton Coward. Their union produced seven children - Hillary, Donnette, Charmaine, Claudia, Orrin, Anissa and Joel. Eaton then migrated to the United States to provide a better life for his small family. A few years later, Pauline, Hillary and Donnette came to live in the United States. Desiring to provide for her family, Pauline accepted positions at May's Department Store and Chase Manhattan Bank. She then found employment at the Sheraton Hotel, working there for 28 years before retiring. They worked hard to achieve the American dream by purchasing a family home which became a base for many visiting family members. Pauline loved cooking, baking and decorating her home. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking and baking Jamaican dishes and sharing them with her family and friends. Sis. Pauline took pride in how she looked regardless of the occasion. In fact, her position as a housekeeper at the Sheraton Hotel was never known because when she left the house, she was dressed as if she had a corner office in the corporate world. Her perfume, coordinated outfits, shoes, hats and matching bags never went unnoticed. Even at 81, she insisted on wearing only the most fashionable shoes, refusing anything that didn't meet her stylish standards. She took pride in how she presented herself and passed that same sense of pride on to all of her children. She spent countless hours in fabric stores, carefully feeling the materials, studying patterns, inspecting buttons and zippers, and making sure everything she chose was of the best quality she could afford. Sis. Pauline was deeply devoted to her Christian faith and traditions. After arriving in the United States, she became a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church of God. In 1976, she joined Faith Christian Missionary Church of God (FCM), pastored by Bishop R.B. Martin. During her years at FCM, Pauline served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, pantry worker, and evangelist. Sis. Pauline was always ready to pray for others - in the church, at home, on the job or wherever she needed to. hands were blessed and anointed. Pauline's relationship with God was a huge part of her everyday life. She didn't only pray in the church but fervently prayed at home. On any given morning at 5:30am, her
children would find Pauline on her knees speaking with the Lord. She also strongly "encouraged" them to join her in prayer for her family and others. Family was very important to Sis. Pauline. She often told her children that they didn't need friends because they had each other. She encouraged them to laugh and play together or to get a book and read. Pauline also stayed connected with the land of her birth. She regularly sent a barrel with food, clothes, shoes, money etc. to family and church members in Jamaica. She was very generous, giving of her time, talent and treasure to those in need. Two of her sayings were "you can't take it with you" and "it is more blessed to give than to receive. In 2017, Pauline decided to leave all that was familiar again and relocate to Georgia. Within a few months, she was able to purchase her house. Oh, how proud she was to do that! Pauline was invited to a service at Word Aflame Tabernacle and instantly felt at home. She loved the ministry, pastor, parishioners, songs etc. and she made it her home. She was very happy worshiping at this spirited and engaged faith community. Sis. Pauline was a fighter. She was a cancer survivor. After many years in remission, she received another cancer diagnosis earlier this year. On June 27, 2025, Sis. Pauline Lorees Reid went from labor to reward, having fought the good fight. Having been predeceased by her daughter Claudia, Pauline leaves to cherish her memories six of her seven children: Hillary Coward, Donnette Williams (Scott), Charmaine Coward-Sims (Alfonzo), Orrin Coward, Anissa Harriott (Jerome), and Joel Coward (Shenita); grandchildren - Jencine Bertin, Janelle Coward-Morgan (Akeem) Denzel Black (Yoanna), Armani Coward, Elisha Black, Jillian Lino, Samuel Williams, Nyjah Gates, Alexa Coward, Alexcea Feggans, Jenefer Lino, Jessica Williams, Joshua Feggans, Janiah Black and Jonah Coward; great-grandchildren - Brooklyn Matthews, Kingston Snider, Skai Gates, Nola Morgan and Hugh Black and a host of family, friends and loved ones to celebrate her life. Rest well, Sis. Pauline.
