IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick (Pat)
Trujillo
February 27, 1947 – December 26, 2024
With great sadness, his loved ones convey that Patrick (Pat) Trujillo passed away shortly after Christmas. Pat went to be with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, just two months shy of turning 78. Born in Bernalillo, New Mexico, Pat graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1965. He obtained a B.A. from University of New Mexico and served nearly two years in the United States Army. After being deployed to Heidelberg, Germany Pat was honorably discharged, having earned the rank of Sergeant.
Pat married Lynn Woodward, now Trujillo, in September 1974 and they gave birth to Laura in November 1975. Pat and Lynn had recently celebrated their 50-year wedding anniversary. A career cartoonist, Pat was the head caricature artist for Disney, working at the California, Florida and Houston locations. After living in Albuquerque, Pat moved with his family to Atlanta in 1986. Once here, he flourished in his career and used the professional moniker of Caricatures by Patrick. Drawing caricatures for parties, conventions and trade shows among other functions and media, for years Pat was the go-to cartoonist for such staples as the Atlanta Falcons as well as Chick-Fil-A headquarters. Pat also donated his time and talent regularly to charities such as children's hospitals. By his tremendous and unique talent as well as his larger-than-life personality, Pat truly spread joy practically wherever he went. His ability to draw a distinct likeness of anyone in three minutes, while capturing them in an enjoyable activity of their choice like performing arts, leisure, etc. routinely left observers in awe.
In his younger years, Pat enjoyed playing golf. He continued his passion for sports as a spectator, especially football and baseball. Pat also enjoyed movies, theatre and reading. Pat was known for his generosity and warm hospitality including his delicious and often distinctive cooking, such as New Mexican dishes. Often one of his signature dishes would become the favorite food of someone who had never had never even heard of it, much less tried anything like it.
Pat's cremains will be interred at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. Celebration of Life services will follow this burial. Pat is survived by countless adoring friends and family, especially his loving immediate family: wife, Lynn, daughter and son-in-law Laura and Dewayne Baxley, sister-in-law Diana Woodward and fellow local artist Chris McGehee. Pat's parents, J.W. and Roselia Trujillo and brother, Victor, all from Albuquerque, all passed years prior. Pat is also survived by his siblings Joe, John and Viola. In lieu of flowers, donations to the World Wildlife Fund, other animal welfare as well as veteran causes are welcomed.
