Obituary

Pamela Kay Corn Slappey, age 70, of Braselton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Pam was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1955, to Fred and Marian Corn of Decatur, Georgia. From the very beginning, her life was marked by warmth, gratitude, and a deep love for people. She attended Columbia High School and Southwest DeKalb High School, graduating in 1973.

Later that same year, on August 10, 1973, Pam married the love of her life, Wayne Slappey. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership that spanned more than five decades and was built on devotion, laughter, faith, beach trips, beautiful sunsets and an unwavering commitment to family. Through raising four children, many travels, and a courageous five-year battle with cancer, Wayne stood faithfully by her side. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love.

Pam's greatest joy was being a mother. She lovingly raised four children, each of whom she adored beyond measure: daughters Cheri Rubio (Andres Rubio), Bethany Slappey (Andrew Torres), Meghan Slappey, and son Nick Slappey (Rylee Slappey). Her heart grew even fuller with the births of her eight beloved grandchildren—Kendall, Walker, Adriana, Vedah, Drew, Declan, Hadlee, and Blakely—each of whom she cherished and delighted in with fierce, unconditional love.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Wayne Slappey; her children and grandchildren; her siblings Debbie Ryals, Rick Corn (Lilly Corn), and Amy Corn; siblings-in-love Peggy and Tommy Slappey, Charles Slappey, and Roy Slappey, Kathy Brown, Vicki Holloman Carter, Gail Authement and her nieces and nephews Trinity Spears, Chris Ryals, Matthew Corn, Renee Bates, Glen Slappey, John (Julie) Slappey, and David Slappey. She is also survived by her Aunt and Uncle, Carolyn and Lenard Lockhart, along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marian Corn; her sister, Melody Corn Sweeney; brother-in-law Russ Ryals; great-aunt Gwendolyn Owens; uncle Hugh Welch; grandparents Vonnie and Ollie Welch; and nephew Lenny Slappey.

Known for her signature leopard and animal-print style, she carried herself with confidence, warmth, and flair. Her kindness was her hallmark. Pam believed deeply in forgiveness, empathy, and understanding human imperfection. She offered grace freely and loved generously. She was a cherished best friend to many, especially her lifelong soul sisters, Jill Rice and Cheri Huff, whose love and devotion carried her through her final days.

Pam lived a life full of laughter and adventure. She loved to travel and fully immerse herself in the culture and cuisine of the places she visited, always alongside family and friends. She often said her gift was finding extraordinary beauty in everyday life. A consummate hostess, Pam loved to entertain, and her dinner parties were legendary—warm, joyful gatherings where everyone felt welcome. Though she was not wealthy, she was endlessly generous, freely sharing what she had with those she loved.

Pam carried a divine essence that shone brightly on everyone she met. She honored the spark of divinity within each person and loved God with all her heart. Her lifelong quest was to become a more loving, faithful, and godly woman—a journey she continued until the day she went Home. Pam's legacy is one of unconditional love, steadfast loyalty, and grace without limits. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
