Obituary

Norman L. Phillips, Jr. sadly passed away on Sunday, June 25 th , 2023, at his home in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. Norman is preceded in death by his wife, Anne Furman Phillips, his parents, Emma Ayers Phillips and Norman Lee Phillips Sr., and three brothers, Joseph Rudolph Phillips, William Henry Phillips and Jerry Ayers Phillips. He is survived by his sons, Mark Phillips of Provincetown, MA, Michael Phillips and granddaughter Brooke Phillips of Bryan, TX, David Phillips of Atlanta, GA, his daughter Donna Phillips of Peachtree Corners, GA and his sister-in-law, Becky Phillips of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Norman was born in Commerce, Georgia in May of 1927. After graduating from Commerce High School in 1945, he served briefly in the US Navy in Japan at the end of World War II. After returning home from service, he attended North Georgia College prior to moving to Atlanta and working for the Veterans Administration while attending Georgia State University in the evenings. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and at age 23, fought in the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor. When he returned home from Korea, he worked for the U.S. Civil Service Commission where he met his wife Anne with whom he enjoyed 64 years of marriage. He later worked for the Addressograph Multigraph Company but left in 1959 to start his own printing and offset press business named Phillip's Equipment which he operated successfully until he retired in the early 1990's. Norman enjoyed fishing, boating, playing the guitar and most of all, playing golf, winning multiple amateur tournaments over the years.

Norman will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will be lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Inurnment with Military Honors will be held at 11:30 am Thursday July 27, 2023 at The Georgia National Cemetery. 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr. Canton, Georgia 30114
