Nelson Downing Jr. age 76 of Lawrenceville, Ga passed away peacefully engulfed in the Love of his family on Saturday December 4, 2021. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jana Downing Gibbs, and his son Todd Downing. Nelson had a passion for Revolutionary History from growing up near Philadelphia, PA. He joined the USMC and served his country in Vietnam from 1965-1967. Working on cars, any kind of new tech gadgets and watching Suzy's garden grow were his other passions. He always said " When I leave this mortal coil, I can say I had a good run, a good life and a good wife". His loss will be felt by many family and friends and his two pups Rooty Toot and CoCo. He is survived by his wife Suzy Downing of Lawrenceville, son & daughter in law Ben-Aaron & Leilani Downing of Huntsville, AL, grandchildren Sirena Downing, Vicente Downing, Jess Gibbs all of Huntsville, Al, Kade & Annalise Gibbs of Virginia serving in the U.S. Navy.
