LIFE REFLECTIONS
Nancy Mae Hill was born in Boligee, Alabama on October 14, 1956, daughter of the late Martha Byrd Hill and the late Raleigh Hill, Jr. Nancy passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Born the fifth child, Nancy was a fun-loving member of the Hill family. She was raised in a hard-working and nurturing Christian home. Nancy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of St. John's Independent Methodist Church. Later in years, she became an avid reader of the bible. Some of her favorite childhood memories included going to Lincoln Theater on Sundays and spending Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners with her family. Nancy attended Jess Lanier High School in Bessemer, Alabama. She also attended Lawson State Community College for two years. Afterwards, she entered into the workforce and then later enlisted into the army in 1978, where she received an honorable discharge some time later. Nancy was extremely outgoing and enjoyed dancing in her younger years. She had an infectious personality and exuberant energy, always displaying her radiant smile. Easy-going and carefree, Nancy was friendly and loved meeting new people. Equally feisty, Nancy knew how to wrap her siblings around her finger. She also enjoyed listening to her radio and was a fashionista. Must haves for Nancy included: a coca-cola, snickers bar, and a cool pair of shades. She is survived by: her daughter, Shantez Hill; her loving siblings: Della B. White of Brockton, Massachusetts; Julia H. Reid of Baltimore, Maryland; Jerrilean Cox of Birmingham, Alabama (Earl Cox); Austin Hill of Buford, Georgia (Audrey Hill); Don Hill of Chesapeake, Virginia; Shirley Hannah of Bessemer, Alabama (Anthony Hannah); and Jewell Hill Brown of Bessemer, Alabama; her aunts: Annie Byrd Dixon of New York, New York; Mildred Byrd Lloyd of Buffalo, New York; and Ada Byrd of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In addition, Nancy is survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by the following family members: her father, Raleigh Hill, Jr.; her mother, Martha Byrd Hill; her siblings: Eddie Hill and Brian Hill; her brother-in-laws: Wilbert White, Norman E.
