STEPHENS, Michael

April 26, 1962 – August 19, 2021

Michael Dennis Stephens (Mike), loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away August 19, 2021, at the age of 59. Mike was born on April 26, 1962 in Atlanta, Georgia, to John Dennis and Becky Stephens. After graduating from South Gwinnett High School, he received his civil engineering degree from Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering in 1984. He worked with his family's pipeline business for more than 30 years before forming several successful entrepreneurial companies.

Mike married his high school sweetheart, Carol Rennie, in 1985. They loved to travel with friends, especially to Key West, and ride his Harley around the country. For the past 12 years, they lived on Lake Lanier, enjoying boating and lake life. Mike also took numerous golf trips with his buddies. His favorite playlists included Aerosmith, The Black Keys, Red Rider, and ZZ Top. He'd jam out to these bands in concert, on his boat, and on the dance floor at many weddings. Mike was known for his loud infectious laugh, caring personality, and jokester character. A charitable and generous man, Mike was always there for family and friends in need of a laugh, a helping hand, or a listening ear.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Becky. He is survived by his father John Dennis Stephens, stepmother Beverly, wife Carol, daughters Megan (Anel) Tankovic and Jessica (Ty) Shelnutt, and grandchildren Luka Finn Tankovic and Adaline Mae Shelnutt. He is also survived by brothers Mark (Priscilla) Stephens, Mitch (Jennifer) Stephens, Brian (Laura) Lay, and sister Ashley (Drew) David, as well as sisters-in-law Elaine (Tim) Palmer and Nancy (Rodger) Prock.
