Melvin (Lumber Jack) Hammond was born on December 25, 1953 to the late Deacon Joshua (O.K) Hammond and Annie Ruth Hammond.  Melvin joined Raymond Hill Baptist Church at an early age, where he served as a faithful member until his health declined.  He departed this life on March 11, 2022.  Melvin was well known in the community.  He was a loving, and kind hearted man to family & friends.  Melvin was like a big brother to nephew Marcus (Josh) Hammond.  Melvin leaves behind to cherish loving memories, sister Barbara A. Hammond, three brothers Jimmy (Patricia) Hammond, Kenneth Hammond, and Terry L. Hammond, close family friend Aldolph Churchill, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.  A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday March 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Byrd & Flanigan Funeral Service, Lawrenceville GA. with Rev. Alex Wright, Rev. Calvin Hopkins, & Pastor Keith issac officiating.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
