Mary Barker
Kelley
April 20, 1956 – March 23, 2026
Mary Barker Kelley, age 69, of Hoschton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at Northeast Georgia Hospital, Braselton. She was surrounded by loved ones and covered in prayers. Born on April 20, 1956, in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of John Jefferson Barker and Helen Britt Barker, both of whom preceded her in death.
Mary was a joyous follower of Christ, a faith-filled woman who brought Jesus into every room she entered. Her faith was the solid foundation upon which she built her family, her friendships, and her career.
Mary served the greater metro Atlanta area as a trusted real estate advisor and Realtor at Peggy Slappey Properties for thirty-five years. She was a third-generation Realtor with a wealth of knowledge and practical skill that will be sorely missed. Her faith informed her work, and it showed in the sincere love she had for all things real estate and the many valued relationships she built over the years.
Known for her generosity, Mary always made space to listen, to counsel, to give not only in dollars but in attention and time. She loved her family fiercely, always making memories with intention. As a fabulous organizer and planner of details, she celebrated every event, big or small. Some of her most treasured times were with family on the lake or pool, floating on the water under the sunshine and clear blue sky. She exalted in God’s beautiful creation. Her final, beautiful gift was to be an organ donor, extending her legacy of generosity to save people she never knew.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Michael W. Kelley Sr., their son, M. Wayne Kelley Jr. and daughter-in-law Allyson Kelley, grandchildren Helena Kelley, Mikaela Kelley, Michael Wayne Kelley III, and Miles Kelley, as well as their daughter, Sarah Kelley Davis, son-in-law Brandon Davis, and grandchildren Makenzie Davis and J. Bryce Davis. She was the cherished sister of Peggy Slappey (Tommy Slappey), and Johnetta Kirk. In addition, she is survived by her sister’s in-law Pat Nash(Chuck), Linda Kelly (Pat), Debbie Barnett (Mike), and her much loved host of nieces and nephews.
This irreplaceable, joyous woman will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm at The Neighborhood Church, 2026 Braselton Hwy, Buford, GA 30519. Visitation with family will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Byrd and Flanigan Crematory and Funeral Home Lawrenceville, Georgia. Additional visitation will be March 28, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Neighborhood Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Neighborhood Church or to Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children's Shelter.
The family will leave immediately following the service for a private burial at the cemetery. They invite friends to gather at the visitation on Thursday or until the time of the service on Saturday to share memories and offer comfort.
The Kelley Family is so grateful for the outpouring of love and support.
