Martin D. Bachmeier, 81, passed away on August 3, 2022. Martin was born February 11, 1941, to Wendelin and Scholastica Bachmeier in Karlsruhe, North Dakota. Martin is preceded in death by his parents; Wendelin and Scholastica Bachmeier. His siblings; Conrad, twin sister Margaret, Eva, and his wife; Mary. He is survived by his sisters; Katherine, Agnes, and Joey; his daughter, Cathy Gonzalez; five grandchildren, Velia, Ramon, Irene, Alicia, and Miguel; Seven great-grandchildren, Giselle, Tyler, Adrian, Skye, Samuel, Denise, and Alejandro, and one great-great-grandchild, Gionni. Also his loyal companion; Boogaloo. Martin served in the military for six years and after his honorable discharge, he later moved to Colorado Springs where he met and married his wife, Mary. They were married for 48 years until Mary's passing in 2020. They lived in Colorado Springs and later moved to Georgia in 1989. Martin was a hard-working man up the age of 79. During his retirement years, he spent most of his time with his wife and faithful companion Boogaloo; he also enjoyed attending auctions, and having a coffee at Waffle House. He was a fan of Nascar racing, watching court tv, going to the thrift stores, collecting horses, chocolate chip cookies, and a cold glass of milk. Martin was a great conversationalist, his stories brought the past to life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday August 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Byrd & Flanigan Funeral Service Lawrenceville Ga. Th family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
