Martha Burnell Buchanan

Martha Burnell Cragg Buchanan, age 87, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, went to be with our Lord and Savior on June 26th, 2026. She was born in Rabun County, Georgia, on November 28, 1938, to the daughter of the late Henry Grady Cragg and the late Eula Mae Carnes Cragg. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Harold Edward Buchanan; daughter Amanda Lynn (Jay) Williams; grandchildren: Kailey (Austin) Coleman, Kelsey (Nicholas) Thompson, Collin Williams; great-grandchildren: Faith, Jacob, and Emersyn Ivie; Cerise Thompson; brother: Charles (Becky) Cragg, sister-in-law Kate (Howard) Lovin, nieces Tara ( Dean) Thompson, Connie (Drew) Weeks, nephew Calvin (Janice) Buchanan and a host of loving and caring extended relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann Buchanan Stinnett, her sister, Joanne Cragg, and her brother, James Leman Cragg. Martha made her home and community in Lawrenceville, where she raised her daughters and helped rear her grand and great-grandchildren. She loved the outdoors, and you’d be hard pressed to find her cooped up or not wandering the “back forty” tending to her garden. When the rain kept her inside, you’d find her curled up with a book, which she kept by the hundreds. Her family will receive friends and community on Monday, June 29th, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Byrd and Flanigan Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Graveside service will be held following the visitation at 11:30 am at Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville, with Pastor Terry Moffitt officiating. 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jackie and the caring staff at Brookdale of Lawrenceville for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Mrs. Martha Buchanan. Your dedication and love brought comfort to her and meant so much to our family. We are deeply grateful for all that you have done.
