With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, Maria Campaña Acosta, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 12, 2026, at the age of 96. Maria was a woman of deep and unwavering faith, a devoted follower of Jesus whose life reflected grace, kindness, and love. She found beauty in the smallest details of God’s creation — in the flowers blooming outside her window, the songs of birds in the morning, the sound of ocean waves, and, most of all, in the love of her family. Born on March 13, 1930, in Gibara, Cuba, Maria courageously came to the United States with her family in search of freedom and refuge from the Castro regime. Through every hardship and triumph, she carried a strength, resilience, and faith that inspired all who knew her. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves behind her loving children, Vanessa Marina Acosta Broderick and her husband, Kevin Broderick, and Fernando Luis Acosta and his wife, Evelyn Bravo; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her remaining sister, Rosa Campaña of Cuba, all of whom will forever cherish her warmth, wisdom, prayers, and unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fernando Acosta; her parents, Elpidia and Luis Campaña; and ten brothers and sisters whom she deeply loved and longed to see again.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find peace in knowing she is now reunited with those who went before her and is resting in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, courage, and appreciation for life’s simple beauties will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.  “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
