Obituary

Margaret L. "Margie"(Igoe) Munchak, age 78, passed away in Atlanta on September 17, 2018.   Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late James and Marion (King) Igoe, Margie was a graduate of Dunmore High School and Lackawanna Junior College. Prior to moving to Atlanta in 2011 from her hometown, she was employed by the Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Bureau and before that spent many years in the transportation industry with Martz Trailways and Price Bus Line. She was involved in many community organizations and activities and was a devoted member of the PTA, a member of the Scranton Chamber of Commerce and a graduate of Leadership Lackawanna, a life-long member of the Scranton Public Library, and served on the board of National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Scranton and Northeast Region.  Margie was an avid reader and devoured books.  She loved music, dance, and theater, enjoyed exercise and water aerobics, and loved spending her free time with family and friends.  She is remembered for always having a smile on her face, always having an optimistic outlook on life, and always providing kind words and comfort to others. Surviving are two daughters, Michele Savino, Lila Cooperider and her husband, Todd, and her beloved grandson, Colin, all of Atlanta; Sisters, Patricia Maguire, Marriottsville, Maryland; Mary Jeanne Igoe, Clarks Green, Pennsylvania; Brother, James Igoe and his wife Joann, Scranton; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Theodore "Teddy" Munchak, who passed away in 2009. Services to honor and celebrate Margie are as follows: Atlanta, GA – A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at 10 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2855 Briarcliff Road, Atlanta. Scranton, PA – A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Saint Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Avenue, Scranton.  Family and friends may pay their respects from 9 to 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM.  A private entombment ceremony at Glenwood Mausoleum, Clarks Summit, will follow immediately afterward.
