Lianne Louise McGhee Alvarez of Gainesville, Georgia died August 28th after a long yet dignified battle with cancer. Born in 1945 outside San Diego, California to the late Walter C. McGhee and Louise Hathcock McGhee, her family moved to Georgia in 1952 and settled into the Ben Hill area of Atlanta. She married Edward Alvarez in 1969 and raised their family in Lilburn, Georgia.
In addition to her homemaking, she worked as a bank teller and later owned and operated the dance studio Dance Connection in Stone Mountain in the late 1980's and 90's.
In more recent years she was a caregiver to her late husband and then her late daughter, Alisha Alvarez Sanders. Also preceding her in death were siblings Janice McGhee Burnette and Michael McGhee.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffery Alvarez of Monroe and Michael Alvarez of Gainesville, her grandson, Jeffery Alvarez Jr. of Monroe, her brother Patrick McGhee and sister Nancy McGhee Morris, and son-in-law Terry Sanders, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Byrd & Flanigan in Lawrenceville, GA. The family will have a graveside service at 11am Saturday, September 6th, at College Park Cemetery
