Kenneth Scott Whitehouse Sr., 85, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, passed away on June 29th, 2017 at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia. Ken was born in Braintree, Massachusetts on October 2, 1931. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1951 where he played varsity football. In August of 1951 , he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in South Korea where he did airframe repair for aircrafts . He was honorably discharged in 1953 and moved to Miami, FL to work for Pam Am before coming home to Oak Ridge. He worked for Redin Buick originally then signed on at Union Carbide, working at the Y-12 plant as a machinist. He later changed career paths and went into machine maintenance. He married his wife of 62 years, Peggy Crews Whitehouse, in 1956, they shared a love like no other. Ken retired from Martian Marietta after 35 years and moved to the Dyllis Community where he and his wife owned a small farm and enjoyed working in his garden and volunteering at Dyllis Baptist Church. In 2011 they returned to Oak Ridge where they have lived since. Ken had a love of the water and enjoyed boating all his life. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, camping at the beach, working with his hands, and being with family. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Oak Ridge.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Thurle Stevens Whitehouse and Florence Knowles Whitehouse Dalton, his brothers Wallace Whitehouse and Robert Whitehouse.
Ken is survived by his wife Peggy Crews Whitehouse, his son Kenneth Scott Whitehouse Jr. and wife Kim, his daughter Tammy Whitehouse Biron and husband Gerry, grandchildren Maxwell Whitehouse, Ava Whitehouse, Jennifer Churillo , Kristina Churillo and Michael Churillo , and wife Lydia.
