Kay Ann Kronsted passed away April 19, 2023. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Kay was later joined in the afterlife by her son Frank Kronsted June 19, 2023, then her husband, Paul Kronsted, July 25, 2024.  Kay was a 20-year Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving her country as a nurse midwife. She was an advocate for natural childbirth, delivering many babies for military women and military spouses over the years.

After retiring from the Air Force, she worked at St. Francis Hospital in Santa Barbara where she designed their birthing center to feel more like giving birth at home. Kay also delivered her own grandson at home, JC Nelson. When they moved to Alaska Kay began working for Planned Parenthood as a registered nurse, providing gynecological exams and birth control to low-income women.

She is survived by her sons Billy Kronsted, Chris Kronsted, and daughters Elaine Boyce, and Paula Sands. Grandchildren, Kaylea Kronsted-Bustamante, Kail Kronsted, Sidda Kronsted, JC Nelson, David Kronsted, Joshua Luff, Courtney Luff, and Sean Boyce, and great-grandchildren Christian Nelson, Wyatt Nelson, Beaux Nelson, Avery Ranis-Nelson, and Sonny Bustamante. Kay will be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her.
