Kathy Stevens Stafford, 69, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 with her family by her side. Kathy was born to the late Hertbert and Marye Kathryn Stevens, of Columbus, Georgia on February 5, 1954. Kathy graduated from Hardaway High School and received her Associate's degree in nursing from Columbus College in 1974.

Kathy married Ronald Jay Stafford, on December 7, 1974 forming the foundation of what would later become their family.  Kathy and Ron raised three children and two grandchildren in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Kathy is survived by her husband of forty-eight years and two children: Carly Ewanowski, of Lilburn; and Matthew Stafford, of Dacula. She is also survived by grandchildren: Jordan and Adam Stafford of Lawrenceville. Kathy was preceded in death by her son, Russ in 2019.

Kathy was an accomplished nurse, proudly serving the needs of the Atlanta community. Kathy began her Atlanta nursing career in the labor and delivery department at Georgia Baptist Hospital and then went on to become a high-risk pregnancy nurse at Northside Hospital. Over the years, Kathy mentored many and was a constant source of knowledge and expertise. She formed a core group of friends who became her work family. She was an avid gardener, earning 'Yard of the Month' for her neighborhood, as well as always helping those not fortunate enough to be blessed with her green thumb. Kathy had a deep love for animals and was known to help many strays find their furever home, even if it was her home. Kathy's favorite place was Seaside, Florida and her two favorite people were her grandsons. The family is incredibly grateful Kathy had the opportunity to enjoy both before her passing.

A church service will take place at Cannon United Methodist Church in Snellville on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 5 p.m. with a reception immediately following at the Montclair clubhouse.
