IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joy Vincent
Fears
February 25, 1932 – February 16, 2025
Joy Lee Vincent Fears, born February 25, 1932 passed away peacefully at home February 16, 2025 following a fall that precipitated a rapid decline in her heatlh. She was in home hospice for the week preceding her death, with her family's constant care and company.
Joy's childhood was spent in Tulsa, OK until her marriage to Jack Tipton Fears in 1952. In 1962, Jack accepted ordination as a full-time minister for the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Joy serving as an extraordinary minister in her own right. She was a gift to her family, her friends, and those who merely passed her on the street. Her mission in life was to serve God to her fullest capacity. She had a compassionate heart, a generous spirit, and wanted each person to understand their eternal worth. Whenever she arrived at a gathering, it was evident to all that Joy had entered the room. She greeted everyone she saw. If there was a stranger in the crowd, she was the first to introduce herself and invite them to join the activities.
Until Jack's death in 1979, they were assigned to ministerial regions in Oklahoma, West Texas, New Mexico and Georgia, consecutively.
In addition to the dedicated parenting of their two daughters, Vicki and Beth, Joy worked as a legal secretary for many years, then completed her professional career as an Executive Assistant at Bank of America in Atlanta, GA.
Joy was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her daughters Vicki Fears and Beth Fears Thrutchley, her granddaughters Tara Thrutchley Lozano and Rose (Jenna) Thrutchley, great grandchildren Tess and Jack Lozano, son-in-law Jeff Thrutchley and grandson-in-law Jeff Lozano.
Joy was her name. Joy was her essence. And Joy is her legacy.
